The Corruption Eradication COMMISSION (KPK) confiscated ten lands belonging to the inactive Governor of North Maluku (Malut) Abdul Gani Kasuba. One of the confiscated lands had just been built with a hotel.
“At one of the land locations, there is a hotel building which will be prepared to operate immediately,” said KPK enforcement spokesman Ali Fikri in a written statement, Sunday (24/3).
The ten lands are in Ternate City, Tidore Islands Regency, and Bacan, South Halmahera. The Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK) believes that the land is related to the bribery case that ensnared Abdul Gani.

The confiscation was carried out for investigative purposes. The Corruption Eradication Committee hopes that the items taken can be used to recover state financial losses due to Abdul Gani’s actions.
“The aim of confiscating these assets is to optimize asset recovery from the proceeds of corruption crimes,” said Ali.
The Corruption Eradication Commission has opened the opportunity to investigate allegations of bribery related to nickel mining permits in North Maluku. The inactive Governor of North Maluku Abdul Gani Kasuba was dragged into this case.
“In the investigation process, it is also possible that there are allegations of receipt (bribery) originating from the process of granting nickel mining permits,” said KPK Deputy Chair Alexander Marwata in a teleconference quoted on January 26 2024.
Alex explained that North Maluku is one of the regions that is a source of nickel in Indonesia. Therefore, he said, monitoring the licensing process in this sector is considered necessary. (Z-1)
