“Disdikbud at both provincial and district/city levels should not give permission to schools that want to hold farewells at hotels,” said Firman Yusi.
As a representative of the people, Firman said that the DPRD’s authority is only to advise or ask the Education and Culture Office to prohibit schools from holding farewells in hotels.
“Similarly, the South Kalimantan DPRD only works in partnership with the provincial Education and Culture Office which has the authority to prohibit High Schools and Vocational High Schools (SMA and SMK) as well as Special Schools (SLB),” said Firman Yusi.
Meanwhile, the district/city Education and Culture Office has the authority to prohibit Junior High Schools (SMP) and Elementary Schools (SD) in accordance with the contents of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 23 of 2014 concerning Regional Government.

Chairman of Commission IV of the South Kalimantan DPRD, HM Lutfi Saifuddin, added that the South Kalimantan Provincial DPRD will issue an appeal to the District/City Education and Culture Offices throughout South Kalimantan.
The people’s representative from the Gerindra Party from the electoral district of South Kalimantan I/Banjarmasin City will monitor the Education and Culture Office or schools that comply with the appeal, as well as hotels that have received orders to understand cancellations.
“Indeed, we received information that there was a school that had booked a five-star hotel in Banjarmasin as a farewell place. We regret this, and the Education and Culture Department must immediately prohibit it,” said Lutfi.
