Banjarmasin (ANTARA) – Members of the Central Banjarmasin Sector Police (Polsek Banteng) arrested five non-married couples in a hotel room during an operation to create conditions for the month of Ramadhan 1445 Hijriah.
“A total of five couples who were arrested during the hotel inspection were found to not be husband and wife,” said Central Banjarmasin Police Chief Commissioner Eka Saprianto in Banjarmasin, Tuesday.

He said the hotel inspection activity was carried out on Monday night from 22.00 WITA to 00.00 WITA.
Officers targeted three hotels, namely Hotel Pelangi Indah Jalan Sutoyo S Teluk Dalam, Guest Host Samudera Jalan P. Samudera and Hotel Raya Rindang Jalan Hasanuddin HM, Central Banjarmasin District.
“From the three jasmine class hotels that we raided, five couples suspected of being lecherous were found in the hotel rooms and were immediately taken to the police station for data collection and guidance,” said Police Commissioner Eka.

Eka said that the five couples who were arrested during the hotel raid were asked to write a statement not to do it again and their families picked them up to receive social sanctions.
Eka stated that the aim of this activity was to anticipate and minimize immoral acts and other criminal acts in hotel rooms which fall under the jurisdiction of the Central Banjarmasin Police.
Eka added that this activity is also to maintain security and order, especially social ills, such as acts of thuggery, as well as to create a conducive situation for the community during Ramadan worship.
“We are carrying out this activity solely to create a safe and conducive situation in the jurisdiction of the Central Banjarmasin Police, especially during Ramadhan 1445 Hijriah,” he said.
