Surabaya (beritajatim.com) – Hotel MORAZEN Surabaya has a unique way to celebrate Earth Hour this year. They invited Alfa generation children to play with traditional toys in an event entitled “Disconnect to Reconnect”.
The hotel lobby, which is usually luxurious with a modern interior, has been transformed into a traditional playground. There are engklek, marbles, bekel balls, congklak, jump rope, stilts, hula hoops, bamboo tops, and wayang tents.
“We want this year’s Earth Hour to not only be about turning off the lights, but also introducing traditional values that may have been forgotten,” said Litania Utami, Marketing Communications and Public Relations at MORAZEN Surabaya.
This event is open to the public and attended by around 25 children aged 3-11 years. Apart from playing, they also learn about the philosophy and moral messages behind traditional games.
“Traditional games are not only for fun, but also contain cultural and moral values,” said Mustofa, the founder of the Kampoeng Dolanan community who collaborated with MORAZEN in this event.
One of the parents who attended, Rahmawati, admitted that she was happy with this event. “My child can learn about culture and play with his friends,” he said.
MORAZEN Surabaya hopes that this event can help the Alpha generation understand that happiness and pleasure can be found in simple things, without relying on technology.[rea/aje]
