UPDATE: Fire ‘under control’ at Kalamazoo-area hotel
KALAMAZOO, MI – Firefighters are battling a fire at a Kalamazoo-area hotel that has impacted multiple units, according to a Facebook post from the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety.
Fire crews from Kalamazoo, Portage, Oshtemo and Comstock were called around 2 pm on Sunday, March 24, to a report of a fire in the 2700 block of Airview Boulevard.
Officials did not name the hotel, however, an MLive reporter near the scene spotted smoke and flames coming from the Days Inn & Suites on Airview Boulevard. The hotel is adjacent to the Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport, just south of I-94.
It’s unclear what started the fire or if there were any injuries.
MLive/Kalamazoo Gazette did not immediately hear back from public safety officials Sunday afternoon for more details.
A nearby trampoline park, Airborne Kalamazoo, closed Sunday as power and internet were out at the plaza.
“Our thoughts are with those affected by this disaster, as well as our first responders,” the business said in a Facebook post.
This is a developing story.
