Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – In the second quarter, DKI Jakarta will have hundreds of new hotel rooms. Based on Cushman & Wakefield MarketBeat Reports data for the second quarter, the abundance of new rooms occurred after no new hotels were operating in the first semester of 2023.
“Around 800 hotel rooms are scheduled to begin operating in the second half of 2023. With no additional supply of hotel rooms in the first half of 2023, the total supply of hotel rooms remains at 42,992 rooms at the end of June 2023,” wrote Cushman & Wakefield, quoted Monday (31 /7/2023).
The total of 800 rooms consists of the upper mid-scale to luxury segments. And there are also additional new rooms at Park Hyatt Jakarta on Jl Kebon Sirih which are included in the luxury segment, namely 220 new rooms.
Then RA Suites on Jl TB Simatupang, which is included in the Upscale segment, added 201 new rooms and the St Regis at Rajawali Place, Jalan HR Rasuna Said, which is also included in the Luxury segment, added 282 new rooms. The three hotels hit the market in December 2022.
Meanwhile, from Colliers data, there are 5 new hotels in Jakarta that will open throughout 2023. These hotels range from 3 to 5 stars. The 3 star hotel is the Sam Ratulangi Menteng Boutique Hotel which is located in Menteng, Central Jakarta with 120 rooms in it.
Then there is Park Royal as a 4 star hotel which will be launched in 2023. This hotel, which is located in Thamrin, Central Jakarta, is planned to offer 171 rooms.
For 5 star hotels, there is Movenpick Jakarta Pecenongan, Central Jakarta, which plans to offer 253 rooms. Next is Pan Pacific Jakarta which is located at MH Thamrin, Central Jakarta, with 157 rooms. Lastly there is the Waldorf Astoria Luxury which is located at MH Thamrin with 183 rooms.
Hotel confidence in adding new rooms has increased since December 30 2022, the government officially revoked the implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) in all provinces in Indonesia.
Moreover, based on PT Angkasa Pura II data from January to May 2023, the cumulative total of passenger arrivals at 20 AP II airports reached 31.7 million passengers and the number of passengers from January to December 2023 is projected to reach 73 million passengers. Where, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport serves around 63% of the total number of passengers at all AP II Airports.
