The Thin Salatiga Hotel Turns Out to Be Owned by an Architect, Inspired by Japanese Buildings

Salatiga

The thinnest hotel in Indonesia, Pitu Rooms, is the work of renowned architect Ary Indra. This hotel in Salatiga is said to be one of the architect’s achievements at the age of 50.

“From his story, every 10 years he has to have an achievement, so at the age of 50 he wants to own a hotel, coincidentally he also wants to spend his old age in Salatiga, so it’s really suitable,” said Pitu Rooms Supervisor, Oktaviani Rosita when met detikJatengThursday (21/3/2024).

Ary then got land in the center of Salatiga City, precisely on Jalan Sukowati No. 33. The land next to the alley and house is what will begin to be built into Pitu Rooms in 2021.

“We will start operations in December 2022, there won’t be any events like an inauguration,” said Rosita alias Rosi.

Rosi also said that Ary Indra likes buildings like Japan. Therefore he created a thin hotel that is only 2.8 meters wide.

“It’s deliberately small, because he likes Japanese smells, so Japan can build a residence in a small place,” said Rosi.

Almost 1.5 years of operation, most of Pitu Rooms’ guests come from outside the city. On average, they go to Salatiga for holidays or work visits.

“There are also architects, artists, students from Jogja, Surabaya, Jakarta, Bandung, so we market from outside. They are also curious, want to meet Mr. Ary too,” explained Rosi.

The rate for staying at the hotel is IDR 850 thousand and an additional IDR 50 thousand for the weekend. There are 7 rooms in the hotel with a capacity of 2 people for each room.

The rooms are on the 2nd to 5th floors of the hotel. Meanwhile, the 6th floor is a restaurant and the 7th floor is an installation room which only employees can enter.
