Fire ‘under control’ at Kalamazoo-area hotel
KALAMAZOO, MI – After about 90 minutes battling a blaze Sunday, firefighters have a fire at a hotel in Kalamazoo now under control. No injuries were reported in the incident that started around 2 pm Sunday, March 24, in the 2700 block of Airview Boulevard, according to Kalamazoo Public Safety officials. Officials did not name the hotel, however, an MLive reporter near the scene spotted smoke and flames coming from the Days Inn & Suites on Airview Boulevard. 100th asylum hotel set to close next week
One hundred asylum hotels will be closed by the end of March as part of the government’s plan to stop the boats and cut the use of hotels in the asylum system. The Home Office is expected to close the 100th hotel next Friday (29th March) having moved people into other accommodation such as large sites and the private rented sector. This means there are 20,000 fewer asylum seekers in hotels today than six months ago, down from over 56,000 at the end of September 2023, a reduction of 36%. April’s NFL Draft in Detroit already filling hotels in Windsor
The economic benefits of the upcoming NFL Draft in downtown Detroit in April are already spilling across the Detroit River into downtown Windsor.
